We are Gathoni and Ben Kiruthi, the hearts behind Sun Africa Studios. Our journey began in 2016 in the small town of Ruiru, Kenya, when a dear friend visited us and shared a God-inspired vision (Start an affordable studio in Kenya)—one that would change the course of our lives forever. At the time, we were young photographers, new parents raising our first child, and trying to navigate life, love, and livelihood.
We stepped out in faith and started Sun Africa Studios with little more than our cameras, a big dream, and God’s whisper in our hearts. The early years were full of beautiful moments—but also a lot of struggle. We faced failure, confusion, and disappointment. We soon realized that while we knew how to take photos, we had no idea how to actually run a business.
That’s when everything changed. God, in His grace, opened our eyes. He didn’t just want to bless our business—He wanted to be in our business. So we made the bold decision to make Him our CEO. We handed over every part of Sun Africa Studios to Him and committed to one mission: To bring God glory in everything we do.
Since then, Sun Africa has been more than just a photography studio. It has become a space of ministry, excellence, and purpose. Every photo we take, every family we capture, every moment we freeze in time—we do it all to reflect the beauty, joy, and glory of our God.
Our deepest desire is for God to get all the credit for this company and all its success. We’re just stewards. He is the true owner.
